**Current Situation**


Occupational therapy helps individuals select, organize, and perform daily activities through professional clinical reasoning to improve their quality of life. It focuses on training individuals' physiological, psychological, and social functions, using methods such as environmental modifications, assistive devices, task simplification, and task enhancement to enable clients to engage in meaningful daily activities and live quality lives. The university began enrolling students in the program in 2003, aiming to cultivate professional occupational therapists with a broad vision and excellent academic background.


**Features**


**Curriculum Planning**


The core curriculum includes three main components: basic medical sciences, occupational therapy profession, and clinical medicine. Basic medical sciences cover essential medical knowledge such as anatomy and physiology. Professional courses include subjects like physical, psychological, and pediatric occupational therapy. Each field is taught by specialized faculty members. Clinical medicine courses, such as internal medicine, surgery, and pediatrics, are taught by affiliated physicians from E-DA Hospital. The program emphasizes both theory and practice. In addition to offering internships and observations at major medical centers, E-DA Hospital provides students with a comprehensive environment for observation and clinical practice.


**Faculty Lineup**


The faculty members are not only experts in their respective fields but also have extensive experience in their professions. The department emphasizes a teaching philosophy that combines hands-on practice with theoretical learning, ensuring students are well-prepared to meet the needs of society in the future. The faculty specializes in three main areas: physical diseases, psychological disorders, and pediatric occupational therapy, covering clinical practice from acute medical care to rehabilitation and community service. The department uses evidence-based approaches to integrate theory, practice, and research, offering high-quality occupational therapy education. Currently, the department has ten full-time faculty members, including three clinical doctors jointly appointed with E-DA Hospital, as well as three adjunct faculty members. The department plans to hire outstanding domestic and international talents in the future.

1. Emphasize both professional theory and clinical skills, enhancing clinical treatment equipment and planning modern assistive technology labs.

2. Focus on the development of work enhancement, vocational training assessment, community rehabilitation, and long-term care, aligning with national healthcare trends to provide a comprehensive learning environment.


**Career Prospects**


Graduates can work in medical institutions, social welfare agencies, general or special education schools, early intervention and child development centers, assistive device centers, sheltered workshops, institutions for disabled persons, long-term care or nursing homes, and home/community occupational therapy services. Further studies are available in occupational therapy, medical engineering, behavioral sciences, special education, rehabilitation and assistive technology, rehabilitation counseling, medical management, or basic and clinical medicine.
