Clinical Teaching

Clinical Teaching

To ensure that students acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, our department arranges hospital internships starting from the second year. In the third year, clinical observation courses are arranged not only at major medical centers in the Kaohsiung area but also at specialized schools, community rehabilitation centers, vocational training centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities. These internships are designed to address the evolving trend of community-based occupational therapy services and the growing fields of long-term care and school systems.

In the fourth year, students participate in a 36-week clinical internship. Currently, we have 20 partner hospitals located across Taiwan in the northern, central, and southern regions, providing comprehensive internship spaces. Faculty members regularly visit each internship site to ensure the quality of the teaching.

In response to the growing trend of community occupational therapy, we have also introduced community-based internships in the fourth year. Currently, we have partnerships with 12 community organizations, providing students with opportunities to gain hands-on experience and become familiar with community occupational therapy practices. Faculty members visit these community internship sites in person or conduct phone check-ins to maintain the quality of the internship teaching.
