INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNSHIP ROOM:
THE PURPOSE OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSESSMENT IS TO IDENTIFY FUNCTIONAL DISABILITIES IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THE CONDITION, EMOTIONAL STATE, AND SELF-WORTH OF THE PATIENT. THIS IS DONE THROUGH INTERVIEWS AND QUESTIONNAIRES (INCLUDING FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENTS, INTEREST AND SPECIALTY SURVEYS, HAND FUNCTION TESTS, PRE-EMPLOYMENT ASSESSMENTS, ATTENTION TESTS, AND COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION FORMS) TO GAIN INSIGHT INTO THE PATIENT'S CONDITION, INTERESTS, STRENGTHS, INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS, WORK HABITS, ATTITUDES, AND CAPABILITIES, WHICH HELPS IN FORMULATING A TREATMENT PLAN.
AS THE NAME SUGGESTS, VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE ASSESSMENT MAINLY TARGETS INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES WHO ARE ABOUT TO ENTER THE JOB MARKET OR ARE PREPARING TO DO SO. FIRST, IT EVALUATES THEIR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STATUS AS WELL AS THEIR EMPLOYMENT POTENTIAL, AND THEN PROVIDES JOB PLACEMENT MATCHING OR VOCATIONAL TRAINING PLANS BASED ON THIS INFORMATION, MAKING THE SERVICE PROCESS MORE GOAL-ORIENTED, COST-EFFECTIVE, AND EFFICIENT.

b. UNDERSTAND ASSESSMENT TOOLS RELATED TO THE EMPLOYMENT POTENTIAL, INTERESTS, SKILLS, WORK PERSONALITY, PHYSIOLOGICAL CONDITION, AND NECESSARY ASSISTIVE DEVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES.
c. UNDERSTAND THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE ASSESSMENT TOOLS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES.
